FAMILIES AND THEIR COMPANIES -I

Hello dear friends, we changed concept of family owned companies which has been seventy percent of our consulting focus more than sixteen years into Families and their Companies. I can hear you saying what is the difference.
If we discuss Families and their Companies first one by one after that together, than we can understand concept of family owned companies. So we are going to share our opinions on families, companies, families and their companies and than family owned companies in this series of articles.
Let’s begin our journey in idea of families and their companies.
Howmany people can remember difficulties and excitement of the first crowling and first steps except their remembering parents. Even if can not remember our first steps which is of sign ability of standing on our feet and self sufficiency, how can we forget our first day at school and first day at work. How well can families and especialy enterprising leader of family remember first enterprising excitement and difficulties of corporatization. Let say that he has a perfect memory and he can remember it all as it was yesterday; how much of these memories he could pas to his heir whom leave company or companies.

Why did we named this stop of our jurney “Families and Their Companies”? It is named “Families and Their Companies” because the companies which families and family members found with their efforts, dreams, visions and even if it is very small at the beginning with their stocks has a very big role in the socioeconomic life all around the worldas it does in Turkey. We can undertand how much the families and their companies affects the socioeconomic life around the world and in Turkey by looking at these numbers: eighty percent of the companies in the world are family found companies. There are more than 18 millions companies in USA and ninety percent of these are founded by families. One in third of the 500 biggest companies in USA are again family founded companies. In Italy 43 percent, in Germany 17 percent and in France 26 percent of the biggest 100 companies are family founded companies.
When we have a look at all the percentage of the family owned companies in general for the countries, in Italy 99 pecent, in Turkey more than 90 percent, in Germany and Mexico 80 percent, in Australia and Chille 75 percent of the all companies are developed by families.
